Craziness descends. This fool (and his cameraman) seem even more clueless about Saudi society’s norms than did the ‘Sex Braggart’ who went on TV to talk of his sexual exploits. Arab News reports:
Man in police uniform arrested for ‘homosexuality’
RIMA AL-MUKHTAR | ARAB NEWSJEDDAH: Police here confirmed on Tuesday a man was arrested in January for dressing up in a police uniform, engaging in “inappropriate acts” and posting the video online.
Police First Lt. Nawaf Al-Bouq told Arab News that the 27-year-old man had been previously charged “with a homosexual case but was bailed out.”
“This time he is facing three charges: One is for homosexuality; the other for general security; and the third is for impersonating a police officer,” said Al-Bouq.
The video depicts a young Saudi man dressed in a police uniform inside a vehicle flirting with the man holding the camera. He asks the cameraman for his driver’s license and offers “comfort.”
At one point, he waves around what appears to be a real handgun. Later in the approximately two-and-a-half-minute video on YouTube, he lifts up his shirt and rubs his chest. The video quickly spread online and through SMS until police detained both men involved in the act. Attempts have been made to block the video from being viewed in Saudi Arabia.

One wonder how a saudi Village People group will look .
March:10:2010 - 12:52
NielsC LOL @ that…He is beautiful. A lot of Saudi women would kill for that kind of hair.
March:10:2010 - 13:45
That’s our mistake in the GWOT, worrying about Saudi roots of terror, rather than split ends…

Oh my God, he is in a HELL of a lot of trouble. Apart from the three charges he faces already, he should also be charged with Extreme Stupidity. Keep that stuff in the privacy of your own home and don’t post it on YouTube for God’s sake.
March:10:2010 - 15:03
I really, really, really don’t want to know!
March:10:2010 - 15:04
I’m with you… his gravest offense is Extreme, nay Maximal Stupidity. I’m glad that’s not a capital crime in most of the world, frankly, but…
March:10:2010 - 15:33
I watched the video and wish now I hadn’t. That is called forcing the police to arrest you.
March:10:2010 - 15:39
He didn’t DO anything gay except fake-play the part. He just staged it. I admit he did look it a bit but whatever happened to that thing about four good and just men witnessing actual penetration. There was none here in the video. I must say the hair he had would make any a woman jealous.

I agree with Essam. There isn’t anything here that really could be considered a “crime” of homosexuality. Wearing the police uniform is I presume a crime if he’s not a cop. If the gun is real there would be a firearms offense. The biggest offense here is that the masochist holding the camera “publicized” the incident by posting to YouTube.
To me the most offensive part of this video — assuming the gun is real — is that he was waving that gun around so casually. That’s how accidental shootings occur — but I’ve come to the realization that a lot of young Saudi men like to flirt with danger — like joyriding morons who don’t give a crap if what they do results in their death or the death of bystanders.

Agreed… the only real crime (other than the simple fact of taping such a stupid thing then sending it off to YouTube) is his wearing a uniform that doesn’t belong to him. Waving the gun is stupid, too, though probably not criminal in the KSA.
March:11:2010 - 06:27
Waving a gun around is a criminal offense just as much as having one in your possession. But many people have them.
March:11:2010 - 07:15
First off, how is having a gun a criminal offense? He may have a license to have one. Waving one is not as bad pointing one. And as far as dressing in a police uniform. Is it really prohibited? Is he walking the streets in one. It seems to be a costume to me.
If the village people in the US could get away with it…? Well LOL
I think the major problem from a religious point of view make be him acting feminine and making himself have boobies.
March:11:2010 - 07:43
Gun licenses are only given to the high high higher ups in the country.By waving his gun around, Sparky, he is pointing it at whatever is in front of it.
Of course wearing a police uniform if you are not a cop is prohibited. In the US that’s called Impersonating an Officer. Regarding the village people and that cop guy in the group, that uniform was not believable at all and you would be an idiot to think that that ‘cop’ was a cop.
This kid’s uniform was authentic. The major problem here is the uniform and the gun. He didn’t have ‘boobies’ he was just twisting his chest to make it seem like he did. Rather gross I have to say. he did have long hair but that is a Bedouin tradition. I have to admit his was well coiffed.

I confess to being a bit confused about Saudi law and firearms. I certainly saw many Saudis with guns, discretely tucked away in a pocket of their thobes. When I went off-roading, I’d often come across camp sites with lots of bullet casings strewn about. And now, the government has authorized gun shops in the various cities. So, there’s clearly not a blanket prohibition. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that only Saudis can get a permit to legally possess/carry a gun. Is mere possession a crime?
March:11:2010 - 09:37
Sparky, in the US, ‘brandishing’ a weapon is a crime in most places. Wearing a military or police uniform is also a crime. Wearing a fake uniform is not, but this guy had a real one.
Brandishing a weapon is a crime in most US jurisdictions and simply waving one around carelessly will get you arrested in most places, too, even those places with liberal gun laws.
March:11:2010 - 10:31
I think to get the guns at the gunshops you need some sort of clearence from the local police. There are lots of guns here as you say John, and it seems to me- like so much else the laws are not fully codified.
March:11:2010 - 20:15
A lot of countries with strict gun laws allow (tacitly or officially) rural people like shepherds, farmers and hunters to own guns. The idea is that these people use them as tools, like shooting wolves or subsistence hunting. Some countries with strict gun laws offer lee-way for certain types of guns to be owned by rural folks. They usually list types of guns and calibers of bullets as permissible in order to allow farmers, shepherds and hunters to have certain types of guns. Not sure what the Saudi rule is on this, but clearly the rural people are freely allowed to carry weapons. Obviously this doesn’t apply in this case.
Sometimes this causes problems. I recall a case years ago of a teenage shepherd near the US-Mexico border (on the US side) who was shot down by border patrol because he was armed and they thought he was a drug trafficker.
