with no respect to the kings and princes, they are all incapacitated and unworthy of rule. to give credit where its due, you might find a few with leadership qualities, but as a the imposing clan they are, they are not worthy of rule.

rumors say (which are more trustworthy than saudi media reports) that abdullah is not sincere in welcoming abdullah. sultan does not recognize abdullah's authority over him and at the same time abdullah can't function without him. they really have authority problems way up there.

yeah, and it was funny watching king fahad 'preside' over meetings lifeless in his wheelchair. it reminded me of weekend at bernies. so, abdullah set up a succession council only to disregard it himself when he appointed the third man in charge.

as for the 'welcoming', even the most pro-al-saud person has to admit it's a just a display.

With all due respect to the Kings and princes...I for one do not think having an incapacitated person in a position "appropriate". Rumor had it that King Fahad was "propped up" for the longest time. Kinda reminds me of how NOrman Bates keep his mother stuffed and in her rocking chair.

When King Fahd had a severe stroke the Saudi press said he was fully recovered and in good health. I wonder if the same can be said for Prince Sultan. I just read a good book called "Paramedic to the Prince" it was written by an American paramedic that was on King Abdullah's medical staff. A real inside look into Saudi Arabia. I bought the book off Amazon
