I’ve just learned of a new online resource, the Digital Book Index. This is an online library of thousands of texts. Most are freely accessed in a variety of formats, from HTML web pages to numerous e-book formats. Some are for electronic sale, with the most expensive I saw in a quick scan, around US $65.00. By far, though, most are free.

Many of the books are free because they are older and out of copyright. Others, though, are more contemporary, at least into the 21st C. The collection includes fiction and non-fiction.

If you’re interested in reading, I think you might want to take a look. There’s a minimal registration requirement (name and e-mail address) and an opt-out for getting information from publishers. So far, I can guess I’m going to be spending considerable time here.
