Al-Hamoud explained that the problem of readapting stems from the long years Saudi families stay abroad pointing out that “some families invariably face a problem readapting upon their return to the Kingdom. This necessitates the intervention of some parties involved in social work.”

Apparently the Shoura Council “social committee” doesn’t have enough pressing social issues to tackle right now. It’s a good thing a study is being conducted that will help Saudi families “re-adapt” to the Saudi way of life when they return. We can’t have people straying from the collective way of thinking now can we?

It notes that “40 percent of applications for marrying foreign women were submitted by elderly Saudi men looking for foreign wives below the age of 20.”

I suspect that similar percentages would be found in other countries as well.
