Here’s a sobering report on the dangers of a nuclear Iran, as posited by Anthony Cordesman of the Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS).

The report (a 178-page PDF document, primarily consisting of single slides), looks at what capabilities Iran has, what it claims, and what is feared it might have. It looks, too, at how just what threats this represents and how the threats might be countered, not only by the US, but also Israel and the GCC states, including Saudi Arabia. It goes further in estimating the problems of Syria or Egypt coming into the possession of nuclear weapons or other WMD, as well as the consequences of nuclear attacks on Israel, Iran, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia.

It’s not very cheery reading, but it’s probably necessary reading.

Well, that makes for some sobering reading. And this is the guy Obama said he’d sit down and talk to with no preconditions? Just saying that is a serious mistake. Actually doing it would inflate Iran’s already monumental ego and make them even more ambitious and dangerous.
