Apparently, the Saudi Ministry of Labor has issued new rules to all government offices stating that the ‘mingling of sexes in the workplace’ (i.e., men and women working in the same space) is no longer to be banned. Instead, they will be expected to conduct themselves properly, under Sharia concepts.

The article from Al-Arabiya TV says this change is in response to the growing need for women to work. It also points out that the circular with the new regulations was sent to the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice, just to make sure that its members understood what the laws actually say, not what they might like them to say.

Thanks to reader ‘Saudi in the US’ for drawing my attention to this article
