Seven Saudis and six Israelis make Forbes magazine’s list of the 20 wealthiest people in the Middle East. Joining them are a scattering of Egyptians, Kuwaitis, Emeratis, and a Turk. [See a slide show of just who they are.] Middle East Times republishes the story:

The Middle East’s 20 richest people
DEVON PENDLETON (Forbes)

Sky-high oil prices may be quashing Americans’ appetite to spend, but in parts of the Middle East it is stoking business and fueling immense fortunes. This is good news for the region’s 20 richest billionaires, who hail from six countries, made their money in nine industries, and were worth $123 billion in March when we last locked in net worths, up about 10 percent from the previous year.

Their total net worth accounted for 64 percent of the aggregate wealth of the region’s 65 billionaires. Interestingly, only one in the top 20, Mohammed al-Amoudi, actually makes his fortune from oil; the rest are merely beneficiaries from all the oil money sloshing through the region.

Riches are wonderful…would like to see some of the riches spent on the infrastructure particularly makeshift public schools which appearance wise are fit for only rats.

I like the photo of Prince Waleed that they chose. Seems like those riches are making him a very happy man! LOL

He has that look…gansta style! I can’t help but comment on another article that was posted that something to the effect that he was gonna go to the prisons and get reformed people and make some type of council of which he would be in charge.

Question I see many competent people around me I wonder why there is a fascination with people and x criminals in power positions? I am not getting it really!

If Prince Waleed was talking about getting “reformists” like the bloggers and academicians out of prisons and making a council I want to be on the council too PLEASE.

If he is talking about “reformed terrorists” then I am not so sure. They need some more time to get their heads screwed on straight.
