The Saudi Embassy in Washington, DC is cautioning Saudi students in the US to keep them advised if they are approached by ‘local security officials’, according to this Saudi Gazette piece.

I suspect this is a pro-active step being taken in reaction to heightened concerns about a possible terrorist act in the US this summer. The Saudi government does try to protect its students, if only by providing legal counsel. So giving the students a heads-up and a point of contact is useful.

In the past—including the recent past—some Saudi students have complained that the Saudi Embassy and Consulates have not kept them informed and have not given them adequate support. I’ve no way of assessing the truth of that matter, but I have seen the complaints.
