HOG gets International License

THE Saudi Motor Sport Committee (SMSC) awarded the Harley Davidson Owners Group (HOG) the International Riders Team license recently.

Each HOG member will receive an international rider license.

“The membership of SMSC is an obvious indication that Saudi Arabia is a leader in supporting internationally recognized sports and social activities, and puts the Kingdom among advanced countries that support such activities,” said Marwan M. Al-Mutlaq, CEO Harley Davidson Saudi Arabia. He said that SMSC, headed by Eng. Misha’l Bin Fahd Al-Sudairy, is the direct supervisor of HOG. It is seeking to support and encourage motor sports in Saudi Arabia taking into consideration safety regulations and rules of International Automobile Federation (FIA). SMSC supervises several sports events all over the Kingdom.

Perhaps it’s just my sense of humor, but I find this funny.

I suspect, however, that certain religious authorities with diminished senses of humor and irony will quickly force some sort of change in the name. After all, if the letter ‘X’ can prove problematic, if Miss Piggy gets reworked for Sesame Street, HOGS cannot have a long future in the Kingdom.
