Islamic Comic Book in English Launched
Javid Hassan, Arab NewsRIYADH, 27 January 2005 — Muslim children from the Gulf states, the UK and Australia now have something new to look forward to: An English-language comic book for kids, described as the first of its kind in the Arab world.
Published from Sweden but edited from Riyadh, Qkids, according to editor-in-chief, Fahd F. Al-Hajji, is different from other children’s magazines in terms of its content and style.
The religious imperative to proselytize gets a new bounce by moving into newer media. Of course, content is going to be the major concern here. But with a Swedish publisher, I suspect this is not going to be a problematic periodic. There are no plans to distribute in the US at present, but I’d certainly like to see some issues.

The Christians have been doing this for years and it has made them a laughing stock.
Case in point.

I think the Chick body of work is unique, thank goodness. I find it incredibly scarey, intolerant and ignorant.
